The Alte Pinakothek presents "Old Masters in Motion," an exhibition that reconfigures its collection. Numerous new constellations connect to thematic groups, focusing not only on the main genres of history, portraiture, landscape, and still life, but also highlighting compositional and narrative structures, and prominent motifs like the interplay of interior and exterior space, monumental drapery figures, or depictions of light. The exhibition explores themes such as the portrait and life of Mary, the female nude, and the dialogue between humanity and God, or violence and suffering. Questions of color and brushwork also come into focus, bringing together works by artists like Dürer and Botticelli, Grünewald and El Greco, Titian and Hals, Velázquez and van Dyck, Murillo and Rembrandt, and Tiepolo and Boucher.
