The special exhibition "Dachau Trials – Crimes, Procedures and Responsibility" at the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site offers an opportunity to engage with one of the largest Nazi criminal proceedings conducted by the US military justice system from 1945-48. The questions raised about the relationship between collective crimes and individual responsibility, atonement and justice, politics and law, remain relevant today. The event also marks the 80th anniversary of the decision to hold the trials exclusively in Dachau. A former inmate, Michael Pellis, identified an accused, Franz Böttger, in the main Dachau trial.
