Old Masters in Motion

The Alte Pinakothek presents "Old Masters in Motion," an exhibition exploring thematic groups of paintings. The display focuses on key genres such as history painting, portraiture, landscape, and still life, while also highlighting recurring compositional devices and narrative structures. It aims to illustrate prominent motifs like the relationship between interior and exterior space, monumental figures, lighting effects, and representations of violence, offering unexpected pairings of artists from Dürer to Rembrandt.
