World premiere: A modern Heimatfilm about a region in transition. Ina, a geologist, returns to her hometown of Neukirch to transfer her share of the inheritance of the family hotel to her niece. This eastern German village, which once thrived on coal mining, was turned into a lakeside resort after the fall of the Berlin Wall. It was the life’s work of Ina’s father, Walter, as mayor to spearhead the flooding of the open-pit mine which created the artificial lake. However, a dark family secret lurks deep underwater.
