There, where the city ends and the void begins, Lener stands in the open barn door. The Fender Strat hangs low, the jacket too big, the eyes sharp. A figure like an echo from another time – or one that doesn't quite exist yet. Grown up on a secluded farm at the edge of the city of Freising, between the forest's edge and horizontal wasteland. For many years, her distorted guitars roared in the empty barn, through the old wooden partition into the wilderness. At night, the adjacent forest chirped and howled. In search of witches and ghosts, Lener crept with her triplet sisters through the trees, later on the hunt for magical material for her first songs. Today, the 26-year-old roams with a Sketchbook through the city's forest, the enchanted urban places between Hauptbahnhof and Schwabing. At 1.75m, she is like born for observations; early on, she was drawn to the in-between spaces – where words flow, lines blur, and music holds everything together.
