Two things worth knowing before you touch this

A background style is one of a fixed list of seventeen: plasma, caustic, clouds, waves, stars, etching, marble, camo, oil, mosaic, ink, fur, network, grid, dunes, bloom, solid. Anything outside that list is not rejected — it quietly becomes plasma, the default, with nothing to tell you a name did not match. If a style you set does not seem to be doing anything, check the spelling first.

Colour is automatic

Every page — event, venue, professional or organiser — gets its colour pair from its own cover image, not from a form field. One accent is anchored off the image and a brighter partner is derived from it, so a directory of many pages does not come out all one colour. A colour we derived may occasionally be adjusted so the directory keeps that spread, but it is never applied over a colour you set yourself.

This is the one part of styling that is genuinely automatic and genuinely used — the large majority of pages on Venued carry a colour, and you do not have to do anything for that to be true of yours.

Everything else is yours to set, and optional

Past colour, a page carries a handful of fields nobody is required to touch: an animated background style, a title typeface, a forced light or dark mode, and a couple of finer background controls. All of them have a sensible fallback, so a page that sets none of them still looks complete — this is deliberately not a panel of knobs everyone is expected to turn. Measured across every event on Venued, only a small fraction carry a background style or a custom title font at all. Set them if you have an opinion about how your page should look; most people don’t, and that is a fine choice too.
