Selling tickets
Sell tickets or take free sign-ups, then check people in at the door.
Choose how people get in
Open your event in Studio and go to the Tickets tab. Under How do people get in?, pick one:
- None: no tickets. People can still find the event and mark interest.
- RSVP: free sign-ups. You do not need Stripe for this.
- Paid Ticketing: people buy tickets. You need Stripe and your tax details first.
- External: the ticket button sends people to another website, a phone number or an email.
Set up paid tickets
Add your ticket tiers
A tier is one kind of ticket, like Early Bird, Standard or VIP. Open Tickets & pricing and add a tier. Give it a name, a price and Total Tickets (how many you sell). Set Sale Starts, or leave it blank to sell from the moment you publish.
A paid tier costs at least €0.50. Set the price to 0 for a free tier, for example for guests or press. A free tier still gives each person a real ticket to scan, and no fees are charged on it.
Set the VAT rate
Pick the VAT rate for each tier. If you said you are a Kleinunternehmer in your tax details, there is no VAT to set.
Decide who pays the fees
In each tier, under Who pays the fees, choose: you absorb the fees out of the ticket price, or the buyer pays them on top. Fees added on top are shown to the buyer at checkout. Studio shows what the buyer pays and what you receive while you set the price. Fees & payout shows the fees for the whole event.
Save and publish
Click Save Changes. A paid event can only be published once it has at least one tier and Stripe is connected.
Fees
- Venued fee: none for your first 6 months. After that it is 1% + €0.49 per ticket. Free tickets have no fee.
- Stripe fee: Stripe charges its own fee for card payments on every paid order. Studio shows it under Fees & payout.
How many you sell
For paid tickets, each tier sells up to its Total Tickets. Then it shows as sold out. If two people pay for the last ticket at the same moment, the second person gets their money back automatically.
For RSVP, set an Attendance cap under Capacity & access, or choose No limit: first come, first served.
Want a waiting list? Under Access, turn on Enable waitlist when sold out.
Discount codes
In Tickets & pricing, find Discount codes. For each code, choose:
- a percentage or a fixed amount off,
- which tiers it works on,
- when it can be used, and how many times (Max redemptions).
A code can also unlock a hidden tier, for example a cheaper ticket only for friends. The list of codes shows, for each one: Redeemed (how often it was used), Gross (the sales it brought in) and Discount given (how much you gave away).
Refunds
Open the event, go to Guests, then Orders. Find the order and click Refund. Choose Full refund or Partial refund.
- A full refund cancels the tickets. They stop working at the door and the places go back on sale.
- A partial refund sends back some money. The buyer keeps their tickets.
Write your refund rules under Refunds & transfers. Buyers see them at checkout.
Give tickets away
To send free tickets or record a sale you took elsewhere, go to Guests, then Manual order. Choose Comp (free) or Paid offline. Each person gets an email with a link to claim their ticket.
At the door
Connect a phone to scan tickets
In the Tickets tab, find Scanner pairing. On the phone, open the Venued app. Tap the small scan button on the sign-in screen, then scan the pairing code from Studio. Or type the Event ID and Scanning Code by hand. Door staff do not need their own account.
Scan
The phone needs internet once, to download the guest list. After that it keeps scanning without signal and sends the scans when it is back online. No phone? Click Open the scanner here to scan in the browser. That needs internet the whole time.
Lost the phone? Click Regenerate to make a new scanning code. Every phone using the old code stops working. For a paper backup, click Door list (PDF).
Sell at the door
You can take card payments at the door with Tap to Pay on the phone. First, open the tier and turn on Also sell this tier in person at the door (Tap to Pay).
After payment, the phone shows a claim code. The buyer scans it or types it into Venued to get the ticket on their phone.
